Understanding Pipe Rehabilitation
Pipe rehabilitation is the process of restoring underground water and sewer pipes using trenchless methods. Trenchless pipe rehabilitation in Nassau allows the pipe to be restored without excavating the entire pipe. While these methods won’t work for every problem, trenchless pipe repair has become increasingly popular for several reasons.
The benefits of trenchless pipe rehabilitation include:
- A faster process – Trenchless pipe rehabilitation is faster and less labor intensive than excavating the pipe to repair or replace it.
- Less damage – Traditional methods that require digging a large trench across your yard cause damage to your grass, landscape beds, or patio. Trenchless methods can access your sewer line with two small holes, so your property won’t be damaged in the process.
- Quality repairs – These methods of pipe rehabilitation provide quality repairs that fully restores your pipe.
- Affordable price – Trenchless pipe rehabilitation is often more affordable than traditional methods since you won’t have the added expense of excavation. Since the landscape isn’t damaged, you won’t have to pay for planting new grass or plants.
In addition to the time and money-saving benefits, trenchless pipe rehabilitation is better for the environment. Since the surrounding ground is not disturbed and the existing pipe is not removed, this method is more eco-friendly compared with traditional methods.

The two main methods of trenchless pipe rehabilitation include cured in place pipe (CIPP) and pipe bursting. CIPP uses a liner that is soaked in a special resin. The pipe is thoroughly cleaned out and the liner is inserted into the pipe. Once the liner is placed, it is expanded to fill the pipe and heat is used to cure the liner to the interior walls of the pipe.
The other trenchless rehabilitation method is pipe bursting. This involves inserting a bursting head into the pipe. The bursting head moves through the ground and breaks up the existing pipe while pulling the new pipe into place. The broken pieces of the old pipe are pushed down to the ground and left there. The right method for a given situation will depend on the amount of damage to the existing pipe.
Our plumbers use high-quality equipment to provide an accurate diagnosis of underground pipe damage, including video camera inspection.
